Luis Calderon wins prestigious Arthur Mirsky Award
Luis Calderon, MS II, received the Arthur Mirsky Award at the Dean’s Summer Research Program Symposium last evening. Luis’ work, entitled “NSE and s-100b as prognostic biomarkers of neurological injury and survival following resuscitation from cardiac arrest” detailed how these markers can be used to help determine the likelihood of awakening after cardiac arrest. Mr. Calderon’s mentor is Dr. Jon Rittenberger, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine. The Arthur Mirsky award is given each year to the top two clinical studies conducted during the Dean’s Summer Research Program. The Department of Emergency Medicine mentored 5 students during this summer’s program.
