Chief Resident, PGY-3

Pittsburgh is a great place to live especially as a resident due to the cost of living so even though its not a super urban city, it has a lot to offer especially some really good hiking near by! Find a neighborhood you like and keep an open mind to getting to know the city.

Reflections on the Pitt EM Program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
An academic program with a variety of clinical experiences and exposure that values collaboration, diversity and providing excellent care for patients.

What are the strengths of the Pitt EM program?
The clinical rotations and many departments/clinical sites that we rotate through as residents prepare you for anything and everything as an EM physician! You have the opportunity to learn from truly amazing clinicians and experts in the field of not just emergency medicine but critical care, EMS, trauma, etc.

Tell us about your residency classmates! How long did it take to connect?
The 'terns!! I think we all started hanging out as soon as the first person moved to Pittsburgh and it has been a blast discovering Pittsburgh together and getting to know everyone! On our days off, you can find us at Damri's pool or Cal's backyard for a good time.

About Pitt EM and Pittsburgh

What do you like best about living in Pittsburgh/Western PA?
It's the best of both worlds - Pittsburgh has a good balance of urban and suburban life and you each neighborhood is pretty unique. There is a lot to discover and enjoy! Also Picklesburgh and the many food festivals!!

Where did you choose to live, and why?
Shadyside - it has everything! Good restaurants, bars, coffee shops, parks, grocery stores (Trader Joe's so come on that's all you needed to know) and mostly everything is walkable

Based on your experiences, what advice would you give to incoming applicants about moving to the 'Burgh?
Pittsburgh is a great place to live especially as a resident due to the cost of living so even though its not a super urban city, it has a lot to offer especially some really good hiking near by! Find a neighborhood you like and keep an open mind to getting to know the city.
