Biography

Dr. Dorfsman assumed the role of Program Director of the Emergency Medicine Residency in 2016. Prior to that, she served as the Assistant Program Director of the residency from 2006-2016. Dr. Dorfsman has dedicated her career to the education of medical students, residents, and fellows, and participates actively in ongoing faculty development. Her interests lie in developing new and innovative strategies to improve the education of both trainees and faculty. She spends her time focused on direct observation of residents as they work in the emergency department, mentoring, peer coaching, advancement of new ways to promote the discussion of clinical practice variations, and expansion and development of innovative educational modules. She serves as peer coach and mentor in the Council of Emergency Medicine Residency Directors (CORD) Coaching Program nationally. She is also currently serving as the Chair of the CORD Academy for Scholarship in Emergency Medicine. She was inducted as a member of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine's Academy of Master Educators in 2012.
