Dr. Sobehart's academic interests focus on the educational mission of the residency and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. His main residency educational pursuits are the implementation of a longitudinal professional development curriculum and the implementation of novel educational strategies throughout the curriculum. He has reinvented the leadership curriculum and added additional sessions for the interns and second year residents on communication and wellness/career longevity. In addition, he has been active in the residency journal club, didactics, and a member of the Clinical Competency Committee. Within the medical school, his efforts have included teaching ethics, law and professionalism; medical decision-making; ultrasonographic anatomy; and emergency medicine procedure labs. Dr. Sobehart brings the leadership experience of 8 years in the Navy, serving two tours of combat duty in Iraq as a physician on the front lines with the Marines.
