Byron Drumheller, MD, is an assistant professor of emergency medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. He is an emergency physician and intensivist at UPMC and attends on the University of Pittsburgh Post-Cardiac Arrest Service.
Dr. Drumheller's research focuses on goal-directed, physiology-based resuscitation of patients during and after cardiac arrest using novel invasive and non-invasive technologies and methods of data collection. He is working to organize like-minded clinical investigators from around the world to develop sophisticated and individualized treatment strategies for refractory cardiac arrest and post-arrest hypoxic-ischemic brain injury.
Dr. Drumheller earned his medical degree at Boston University and completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and fellowship in surgical critical care at the University of Maryland before joining the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh.
