About Me

Hometown: Minnetonka, Minnesota
College/University: Cornell University
Medical School: George Washington University

What are your career goals?
I'm not sure, but CCM or ultrasound fellowships are possibilities!

What did you do the summer before internship?
Spent time boating on the lake with family and friends

What do you like to do outside of medicine?
Anything outdoors - boating, hiking, flying, skiing, and trying new breweries!

Reflections on the Pitt EM Program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
A well established program with a range of different clinical sites, breadth of training opportunities (EMS, MedEvac, sports medicine, etc), and a decently large residency class.

What are the strengths of the Pitt EM program?
Everything above! UPMC checked all of the boxes.

Tell us about your residency classmates! How long did it take to connect?
We had a class GroupMe set up about a week or so after Match Day and haven't stopped talking in it since. When we're not working together in the hospital people are always hanging out at each other's pools, breweries, and restaurants around the city.

What surprised you most about Pitt/UPMC?
How truly warm and inviting all of the more senior residents, faculty, and support staff have been.

About Pitt EM and Pittsburgh

What do you like best about living in Pittsburgh/Western PA?
The people! In the short time I've lived here I've met some of the kindest people both at and outside of work. It's like living in a semi-East Coast city with the friendliness of the Midwest.

Where did you choose to live, and why?
The North Hills because we wanted a big fenced in yard for our puppy!

Based on your experiences, what advice would you give to incoming applicants about moving to the 'Burgh?
