Chief Resident, PGY-3

Take time to visit all the areas and see what you like best! I never got to come to Pittsburgh until after I matched, but there is something here for everyone and there is so much to explore before you settle on a place to live and before you get a sense of the city.

About Me

Hometown: Albany, New York
College/University: Sacred Heart University
Medical School: SUNY Buffalo

What are your career goals?
Ever evolving, right now I think I want to be involved in academics and community practice maybe ultrasound fellowship too!

What did you do the summer before internship?
Got engaged in Myrtle Beach and enjoyed hanging out with friends I hadn’t seen in a while and family.

What do you like to do outside of medicine?
I like to try lots of different exercise classes, most recently tried a new boxing gym and circuit classes. I also love to find scenic routes to walk and trying new restaurants! I love dancing and being by the water anytime I can.

Reflections on the Pitt EM Program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a program where I knew I’d receive excellent training, work with supportive and inspiring faculty and meet co-residents I would become very close friends with and form a network of support with.

What are the strengths of the Pitt EM program?
Prehospital emergency training, hands on experience with sick patients from day 1, a large class of residents so you always have people to hang out with when you're off, lots of education, and the opportunity to do essentially anything you're interested in in EM!

Tell us about your residency classmates! How long did it take to connect?
I'd say by the end of our second group activity I had a bond with these people, our second activity was brunch so enough said. We've always been eager to hang out with each other and have all become very fast friends.

What has surprised you most about UPMC/Pitt?
Everyone is so nice! People are willing to explain things, teach you, show you where to find random equipment no matter who they are or what department they are from.

About Pitt EM and Pittsburgh

What do you like best about living in Pittsburgh/Western PA?
It is a really versatile city and has pretty much anything you are looking for. Each little area has its own special vibe and fun things to do. It's also super green with lots of parks so you don't feel like you're concrete locked.

Where did you choose to live, and why?
I currently live in Southside because it was very affordable and has a super easy commute to the main hospitals, Presby and Mercy. There are lots of bars and restaurants around me which is nice if you're looking for a night out. However, after living here for a few months I'm tempted to try out living in a new spot before the end of residency!

Based on your experiences, what advice would you give to incoming applicants about moving to the 'Burgh?
