Leonard Weiss, MD, FACEP, FAEMS, is an associate professor of emergency medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and a courtesy faculty member at the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute. Dr. Weiss is an emergency and EMS physician (MD 1) at UPMC. He serves as the medical director of the City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety, medical director for Allegheny County Emergency Services and 911 Communications, and as assistant medical director for STAT MedEvac. Lenny is thrilled to be part of the UPMC/University of Pittsburgh emergency medicine residency program, serving as director of the prehospital rotation, enraptured by "all things Jeep".
Dr. Weiss's passion for medicine started in Bloomington, Indiana, at IU, where he trained and worked as an EMT, earning cherished experience, friends, and mentors. In the Division of Emergency Medical Services at the University of Pittsburgh, he specializes in out-of-hospital care and critical care transport. His career focuses on EMS and on combining technology, invention, public health, and medicine. In addition to his clinical duties, he is a co-investigator for the University of Pittsburgh Resuscitation Logistics and Informatics Venture (ReLIVe). Outside of medicine, he has a passion for music and theater.
